Let Down
TODAY was supposed to be the day I gave my first impromptu speech. My teacher was nice enough to give us our topic last Friday so we could prepare over the weekend. I did not prepare that much because I had some friends come into town so we went bowling and to a movie. By the way Chronicle is not very good:(. So finally when Sunday came I went to church which was an awesome service and then decided to make a little outline for my speech. Our topic was community service so I figured it would be easy since I do community service all the time and have gone on mission trips. So when I woke up this mourning I read some in my bible and Jesus Calling to find some peace and to gain some confidence for my speech. When I finally got to my public speaking class the nerves were kicking in gear and I began to sweat a little bit, but I was still feeling alright. My teacher finally made it into our room and we drew out our random audience and mine was 9th grade English class. I was so happy and was pumped to how easy my audience was. As we started to give our speeches the clock was racing. Class ended before everyone got a chance to go. I was one of the few who had not gone yet so I decided to stay longer in order to present. I stayed an extra ten minutes to eventually have to leave because the next class had to come in. Now I am going to be faced with drawing a new audience which is a let down because the English class would have been so simple. Hopefully Wednesday will be fine, but I hope I can keep my same audience or I get another good one. On the bright side reading the word of God is a great way to find peace and joy in any circumstance, so next time your faced with pressure try out the Bible its the best!!!!!!!!!

Amen and good luck on your speech.
ReplyDeleteMy impromptu speech was awful because we got about 5 minutes to prepare and I'm really not good under pressure. It's good you have such a nice teacher and she gave you your prompt early!
ReplyDeleteI hope that your speech went well and that you got a similarly easy audience!
